Cathedrals are central to many Spanish cities, but none perhaps more so than in Santiago de Compostela. The Cathedral is the last stop for those travelling St. James Way, a series of pilgrimage routes running throughout Europe. Each day a new batch of pilgrims make their way to the elaborate spires of the Cathedral, pass through the equally elaborate front gates, and partake in the mass held inside just for them. Those who aren't so religious usually just plunk down in the center of the square, and celebrate with a few high-fives.
