Cuban Tobacco

Pinar del Río is the western-most province of Cuba, it's geography marked with steep limestone hills, called mazotes, and flat fertile valleys. Out of these valleys comes 70% of Cuba's tobacco crop, much of it being used to produce cigars. Most of the farmers in Pinar del Río use traditional growing practices: working the fields by hand, plowing with oxen so as not to compact the soil, and air curing the leaves in small family barns once harvested.
